Commentary – A short compilation of good songs for that last goodbye.
Commentary – Let’s just say that the divorce is final April 2005, and I am better off. The divorce party is in early planning stages, and this is the mix I’m creating to pass out as my party favor CD. I am living life, and he is a miserable piece of scum! I’ll raise my glass to that!
Commentary – My divorce mix … from the infatuation to the bitter heartbreak to the strength to start looking for love again … for anyone who’s been there … I hope this helps.
Commentary – Empowering music for women in the middle of a divorce. Doesn’t matter how old you are or how many times you’ve been through it – it always hurts the same.
My friend Benjamin gave me this playlist after a bad breakup. That was 3 years and 2 European cruises ago and I still listen to it at the gym at least once a week.
Rating:
Commentary – This is perfect if you are a kid, or are in your early teens. Two of these songs are, in fact, about the artist’s experience as children of divorce (Kelly Clarkson & Chester Bennington).
Commentary – Two long time friends, barely 40, divorce. I made this to help her through the rough times. The mix was designed as a story to be listened to from start to finish.
Commentary – This is an iMix I created after I divorced and started dating again at 50. The music here is up-tempo for the most part, empowering, funny, and maybe even a bit inspirational. I made it for women over 40 in mind who are finding themselves again after a long relationship. It reminds me of who I used to be, who got lost in the process of heartbreak, and who I really am on my way to re-discovering. All still standing.

Set against the colorful backdrop of New Orleans, SOUTHERN FRIED DIVORCE raucously recounts the author’s divorce from “That X”-a classic bad boy-and the unpredictable roles he plays in her life afterward. The book opens with his showing up on her doorstep, in mid-Spring, covered in red and green ribbon, smelling of Jim Beam, and bearing a belated Christmas gift-a home security package in the form of a .38 revolver and a brown puppy. After wondering what kind of ex-husband gives his wife a gun, she gives the puppy back and the adventures with that ex-husband and the brown dog, who are soon inseparable, begin.

One of the hardest truths about divorce is that every split – no matter when it occurs – will have lifelong effects on the children caught in the crossfire. While most people acknowledge our pain during our parents’ parting, few of us realize that our most significant insecurities, questions, and doubts may not show up for years, when we seek our own intimate relationships as adults.

Why am I always waiting for the “other shoe to drop,” even at moments of success? You may be surprised to discover how common these feelings are for children of divorce, especially as they get older. Dr. Judith Wallerstein has been studying the effects of divorce on children for 25 years, but even she wasn’t expecting the findings presented here: that while children learn to cope with divorce, its greatest effects don’t emerge until adulthood
